Repairing a failed Organice Document Control System upgrade

Problem

When upgrading Organice DCS to a new version the deployment fails with an error. This means the upgrade in SharePoint, database and Hive folders are out of sync (possibly caused by the upgrade or other active processes) and need to be reset.


Solution

Perform every step as described below:

(You can check SmartInspect Console on each SharePoint Application server to see the progress, or if any error occurs)

1.    IISRESET on all SharePoint servers

2.    Reset SharePoint Timer Service on all SharePoint servers

3.    Uninstall Organice DCS

4.    Install Organice DCS

5.    Use "?repair" in the Document Control System configuration URL in Central Administration

6.    Wait for the Organice DCS Admin Timer to complete the upgrade process


Once all automated administrative tasks have been completed the error message shouldn't be visible anymore in the site collections.
