New features and improvements in Autodesk Revit 2026

Revit 2026 introduces new capabilities and improvements that optimise your workflows, particularly in the areas of location modelling, construction detailing, data sharing, interoperability and documentation.

• Recap Pro for Revit plugin: The new ReCap Mesh plugin for Revit 2026 – not previously available in Autodesk Revit 2024 or Revit 2025 – enables you to integrate large amounts of reality capture data. You can add mesh data, manage layers and model faster. What's more, you can create Revit families directly from mesh geometry, complete with connection points, extrusions and parameters.
• Streamline documentation: the new release automates repetitive documentation tasks so you can focus on the real work. With features such as ‘View to Sheet Positioning & Automated Placement’, you'll quickly save time. In addition, you can now use shared parameters in Callout Heads, Elevation Marks, Section Marks and View References, allowing you to easily add additional data and make views respond dynamically to the linked information.
• Accelerated Graphics Technology - Technical Preview: This new functionality improves 2D and 3D rendering performance in Revit with graphics technologies such as USD (Universal Scene Description) and Hydra. By leveraging graphics technologies, this Tech Preview significantly improves navigation speed in 2D and 3D views. This makes model inspection smoother and allows you to edit large models more efficiently.
• Improvements to Toposolid: The subdivision functionality has been optimised for more efficient and flexible modelling. In addition, accuracy and collaboration between Revit and Civil 3D have been improved, with better support for linked Civil 3D files via Autodesk Docs. Finally, the threshold for Toposolid points has been increased to 20,000, with an optional increase to 50,000.
• Parametric rebar cranking: this functionality now allows you to easily model reinforcing bars in busy areas to avoid clashes.
• Point-to-point modelling: this feature allows you to remove setbacks in a single click, so that elements are accurately modelled from point to point.
• Improved HVAC zoning: HVAC zoning has been optimised by merging system zone objects into a single entity called ‘System Zones’. These zones can now be defined more easily via a sketch or space and offer more extensive properties, making it easier to select, dimension and distribute installations.
• MEP fabrication improvements: The updated MEP Content Editor now shows a preview of connector shapes and connection points, making it more efficient and clearer to work with.
• Coordination models: These models linked from Autodesk Docs offer improved workflows in Revit 2026. You can now precisely determine which element categories are visible and how you want to visually distinguish them.
• Data Management: A new option has been added so you can view imported CAD files in the Manage Links dialogue box.
• Open standards and IFC: With the new option to select IFC Link Orientation, you can now determine the position where IFC files are linked in Revit. This prevents time-consuming reworking or relinking of files that are incorrectly positioned, as the IFC origin is correctly aligned with the Revit system.
