Upgrades and previous versions of Autodesk software
You can find all the information you need about using earlier versions of your licences here.
Three previous versions
A new Autodesk subscription and an Autodesk maintenance plan give you the right to use the most recent and the three previous versions of the software. That's all pretty clear, but what if your right to use a previous version lapses when a new release comes out? Read on for an explanation.
Earlier versions
Autodesk has combined all the conditions and options under their ‘previous versions’ policy. This brings together the programs that fall within the scheme and the old schemes that were in place before the previous versions. You have the right to use the older versions when you purchase a subscription.
The earlier versions to which you are entitled are defined at product level within Autodesk Collections. If you have had different licences running for some time, it is worth checking how many older versions you have access to.
Number of licences
For example, if you have 15 licences in total, how many versions will you now have access to within the 3 previous versions arrangement?
- Autodesk Revit 2017 - up to 15 licences
- Autodesk Revit 2016 - up to 15 licences (1st previous year)
- Autodesk Revit 2015 - up to 15 licences (2nd previous year)
- Autodesk Revit 2014 - up to 15 licences (3rd previous year)
Note: In the above case you may never exceed the total number of 15 licences that were purchased. When the 2018 version comes out, the right to use the 2014 version will lapse.
Autodesk provides 'previous version' access to the vast majority of programs. This list provides the most comprehensive information in this respect.
