Autodesk Revit 2024 brings new features and improvements

The new toolset for landscape designers in Autodesk Revit 2024

The new site tools in Autodesk Revit 2024 make it possible to design and document detailed landscapes. With these tools, you can easily collect and organise data from existing conditions, such as CAD imports, CSV point files and more. Versatile site and mass modelling topography tools allow you to bring your design intent to life freely and easily. Moreover, using Revit's design-to-documentation engine, you can save time and improve design quality when modelling landscape and terrain conditions. You can effortlessly complete sheets, views and schedules and calculate material quantities.
The functionality to place multiple views directly on a sheet, where the different views are displayed side by side and can be moved independently to the correct location after placement.

Graphic styles

Within visual styles, a new option called "textures" has been added. This option is particularly intended for views and allows materials to be displayed more accurately, without showing distortions such as depth and light effects.

Solid topography

In previous versions of Revit (Revit 2023, Revit 2022, Revit 2021), topography was modelled as surfaces, but now there is a new option to model topography as solid objects. This new feature offers significant advantages, especially when creating cross-sections of the subsurface in different views.

By modelling topography as solid objects, users can create more accurate and realistic cross-sections. These solid objects maintain their shape and structure without distortions or loss of detail, even in complex geometries. This is particularly useful when visualising terrain changes and analysing the impact of design decisions.

Brand-new feature in Revit 2024: Refreshing range of new sample projects

When starting Revit 2024, you'll immediately notice the extensive selection of sample projects available, more than in previous versions. Within these example projects, you can choose from a variety of disciplines, such as architecture, construction, electrical, HVAC and plumbing.

Dark-mode option for a quieter view with Autodesk Revit 2024

revit-darkmode

This new feature in Revit allows us to set both the canvas and user interface in a dark mode. While in previous versions it was already possible to display the canvas in a different colour, in Revit 2024 a dedicated button has been added to the "View" tab to quickly switch between a light and dark background for the canvas. In addition, a system setting is available within the options, which also includes the ability to customise the panels and ribbon to the desired colour.

With the dark theme for Revit's user interface and drawing area, you can now make use of a calmer visual image. These settings can be easily adjusted via the "Colors" tab under "Options".

Integration of coordination models between Autodesk Docs and Revit

Link the coordination model from Autodesk Docs to Revit to make synchronising and coordinating design products easier for project teams. With this integration, you can manage project documents efficiently and ensure your team is on the same page. By coordinating the coordination model between Autodesk Docs and Revit, you keep your project files organised and ensure everyone has the same information.

My Insights at Autodesk Revit 2024

Receive valuable insight into your use of Revit and discover suggestions to improve your experience with the software. The new feature called "My Insight" generates several insights, including application performance, a summary of commands used, personalised recommendations for commands and features, and tips on learning paths. Thanks to data analysis, you get a deeper understanding of your Revit usage.

"My Insight" is a powerful new tool within Revit that analyses your software usage. You can fully customise the view to show specific actions and achievements in addition to usage. With this comprehensive information, you can optimise your work processes and work more productively in Revit.

Expanded colour options in Color Books update

The Project Browser in the latest version of Revit has been improved to make navigation faster and more user-friendly. With the addition of a search function, you can now easily find the right view, sheet or family. In addition, you can use specific colours using third-party colour books or user-defined colour books. Simply select the desired colour from the available colour books in the Windows 'Colour' window.

Real-time rendering of Revit 2024 with Twinmotion

One notable feature that is already present in the Revit 2023.1 version, but can still be considered new, is the real-time rendering software included for free. Twinmotion allows you to enrich your 3D models with materials and additional elements, and then render images, panoramas, videos and animations.

With the Auto Sync feature, you can support automatic synchronisation of changes from the active Revit model to Twinmotion. This handy feature can be enabled when a 3D view is active, so your design always remains up-to-date in both software programmes. Thanks to this seamless integration, you can further refine and visualise your designs using Twinmotion's powerful tools.

Revit 2024 features a modern and optimised user interface

Revit 2024 has received a major update in terms of visual elements. A lot of icons have been replaced with new and modernised versions. These changes have resulted in improved visibility of contextual tabs and the options bar, in both the light and dark themes. This optimises the user experience and makes it easier to find and use the necessary tools and functions. The updated icons take visual communication within Revit to the next level, allowing you to work more efficiently and productively.

Presentation and arrangement of 2D objects within Autodesk Revit 2024

In previous versions of Revit, the display of 2D elements in the Family Editor, projects and PDFs was inconsistent. In Revit 2024, however, consistent display of elements across all platforms has been ensured. In addition, controls for the drawing order of 2D elements are now available in the Family Editor for all categories of families. This ensures a unified and streamlined experience when working with 2D elements in Revit.
