Problem:
You have a Revit project with 1 or more linked files.
The project needs to be delivered to another party as IFC.
When exporting to IFC the linked files are not included or exported to IFC.
Cause:
Linked files, by default, cannot be exported to IFC from Revit 2014/2015/2016.
Solution:
There are two possible solutions:
1) Linked files can be 'bind' before the IFC export is created. With Bind the linked files become parts of the project an dwill no longer be seperate files. IFC Export will now export 'all' objects in the project.
2) Download and install the 'latest' versions of the 'IFC Exporter' from Autodesk.
For Revit 2014 this is: Alternate UI 2.13.0.1
For Revit 2015 this is: Alternate UI 15.3.0.1
For Revit 2016 this is: Alternate UI 16.6.0
Since Revit 2017 this functionality is embedded in the basic version of the IFC Export that comes with Revit.
The Alternate IFC Exporter however is still available for these versions.
For Revit 2017 this is: Alternate UI 17.4.0.0
For Revit 2018 this is: Alternate UI 18.4.0
For Revit 2019 this is: Alternate UI 19.3.0
For Revit 2020 this is: Alternate UI 20.1.0
Within the IFC Export (Alternate UI x.x.x.x), through the button [ Modify setup ... ] and the "Additional content" tab, the function 'Export linked files as seperate IFCs' can be activated.
With this setting ther will be seperate IFC files created from the linked files.
There will be several IFC files to be combined for delivery.
The 'IFC Exporter' is to be downloaded from the website: apps.autodesk.com.
