How to switch my Autodesk license from Network to Named Use?

Laatst gewijzigd op: 24 novembre 2022

Problem:

The Autodesk software (still) makes use of the Network licensing method.

The current Autodesk contract however contains Named Use licenses instead of Network licenses.

How can the software be changed to make use of the Named use license without reinstalling the software?

Cause:

During installation or with the first time running the software the licensing type was set within the software.

This license type can also be changed from within the software.

Solution:

First make sure every user has an active Autodesk account and a software license has been assigned to this user in manage.autodesk.com

  • When the software can be started using the networklicense:
    1. Click the 'dropdown icon' behind the questionmark (topright of the screen)
    2. Choose 'About Autodesk .......' (for example: 'About Autodesk AutoCAD 2021')
      The 'About' screen opens
    3. Click [ Manage License ] or [ Product Information ]

      The 'License manager' screen opens
    4. Click 'Change license type'
The 'Let's Get Started' screen opens
    5. Click [ Sign in with your Autodesk ID ]
    6. The user will now have to enter his/her Autodesk Account credentials to gain access.

  • When the software can no longer be started due to a license expiration the steps in this article must be taken:
Reset license activation for an Autodesk product for Stand-Alone license with Single-User Access | Search | Autodesk Knowledge Network

These steps must be repeated for all Autodesk software and versions.

The LMTools on the license server must be uninstalled after all users have been migrated.
