Architectural Dim-Style for Design floorplans - Revit

Last modified on: 29 April 2020

Problem:

You are looking for a dimension-style in which the dimensioning on the buyerplans can be placed looking similar like they did in AutoCAD, for example:  < 610> (in cm) or with an arrow from wall to wall with the value above the line, however you cannot seem to find it.

Solution:

By downloading the attachment (Revit 2018) you can use the dimension styles in the project.

  • Download the file: Architectural Dimension Style-R18.rvt
  • Open the file in Revit 2018 or higher
  • Select the dimension line(s)
  • Copy (<CTRL> + <C>)
  • Paste in your own template or project (<CTRL> + <V>).

The dimension style with the arrow can be used immediately, The dimension style < 610 > (in cm) does require some extra:

  • Select the dimension
  • Double-click the value
  • With Text Fields enter the 'Prefix:' and the 'Suffix:'
    • For Prefix, enter the value: <Space
    • For Suffix, enter the value: Space>
  • Click [ OK ].

You can set the value to the desired location. Select the value, 'grab' the blue ball underneath the value and 'drag' the value to the desired location.
