ACD uses the Content Center in NXTdim Inventor on a daily basis
ACD started in 1989 as a one-man business, and has grown into a mediumsized company employing more than 60 people. As a services company, ACD has evolved into an all-around partner for industrial, chemical and utility companies. The team has extensive know-how in a wide range of fields, allowing it to handle virtually any complex application with the right expertise. Cadac Group hooks up ACD with NXTdim Inventor.Read more
Engineering and maintenance
Based in Belgium, ACD focuses its activities along two business lines: engineering and maintenance. ACD provides project assistance in design, planning and execution for systems and equipment building, 3D CAD support and reactive, predictive and preventive maintenance.
Revising running equipment, taking preventive steps to avoid downtime and diagnosing the state of equipment are all in a day’s work for ACD. The company has a number of in-house projects like manufacturing special steel constructions and mechanical engineering.
The Content Center is used daily
”Right away, we were very interested in NXTdim Inventor’s Content Center, a localized Inventor component library. The Cadac Group has translated the standard library in Inventor into Dutch and added the DIN material properties."
No more questions on articles to be used
ACD uses both Autodesk Inventor Professional 2011 and AutoCAD 2011. “We were introduced to NXTdim in consulting sessions with the Cadac Group on the implementation of a new ERP system,” says Kris Verheyen, Inventor Engineer at ACD.
“Right away, we were very interested in NXTdim Inventor’s Content Center, a localized Inventor component library. The Cadac Group has translated the standard library in Inventor into Dutch and added the DIN material properties. This meant that our workshop staff were no longer uncertain about which article to use because of language issues, for example because certain English terms like ‘unequal angle’ were unclear to them. So the Content Center definitely gets used at ACD every day.”
Time-savings, rapid acceptance
NXTdim Inventor also includes Tools with handy features, like the publish flat pattern tool. This function automatically generates a DXF file of all sheet metal parts within an assembly. “In the future, we also want to start using the Publish to SharePoint tool, but before we do that we’re going to wait until we’ve fully migrated to Windows Server 2008,” says Kris.
“With the Content Center and the Tools in NXTdim Inventor, we are saving a huge amount of time and have gained a lot of clarity on the articles used. The acceptance and transition to NXTdim Inventor went off without a hitch, no problems to speak of.”
