Window created in phase 'new' is also visible in 'existing' - Revit

Last modified on: 29. April 2020

Problem:
Whenever a skylight is placed in the 'new' phase this will also be visible in a section view that represents the 'existing' phase.
Only Revit will show a 'white filled region' instead of showing the insulation an tiles of the roof assembly.

Solution:
When working with phases all settings must be set correct.
Following procedure is best practice:

  • Create 1 view for phase existing. Create 1 view for phase 'new'
  • In the viewproperties, make sure the 'phasing properties' are set correct;
    • 'Show all and Existing' for the phase 'existing' view
    • 'Show all and New' for the phase 'new' view
    • The skylight placed in the 'phase'new' view will not be visible in the phase 'Existing' view.

  • Also make sure the object phase is set correctly:
    • with Phase Created set, that element will get set to when the element will be created. The choices are Existing and New.
    • With Phase Demolished set, that element wil get set to when the element will get demolished/removed. The choices here are Existing, New and None.
