Home-Use licenses and VPN connection for Netwerklicenses

Question:

Is is allowed to make use of the Home-Use licenses in combination with VPN access to achieve a connection with the Data on the server.

Situation:

Usually you make use of Network licenses provided by a Network License server.

Because of the current COVID-19 restrictions there is more home-Use of the Autodesk software.

The users are able to setup a VPN connection to reach the company data.

These same users also make use of the (specially requested) Home-Use licenses. (Only for Perpetual or NLM licenses)

Answer:

No, is is not allowed to use the combination of both. To comply it is a an or/or situation.

When there is no possibility to created a VPN connection, the use of a Home-Use license is allowed.

As soon as a VPN connection can be established the use of a Home-use license is no longer allowed because the VPN makes it possible to connect to the Network License server.

When the combination of both VPN and Home-Use is utilized, more than the maximum number of licenses can be used and that is a conflict of the EULA (End User License Agreement). As described below:

For Multi - User / Network license user whom have to work from home there are 3 options to be chosen from:

Borrow license (from the License server)
or
VPN connection to the License server
or
Home Use license
