News | Cadac supports Strukton Power with digitisation

8. Februar 2023

Cadac Group, based in Heerlen and Vianen, is building a digital platform for Strukton Power for design, further automation of production processes and complete data management. The project has a duration of eighteen months and will start on 1 January 2023.

Parties sign agreement Digital Engineering Programme

Strukton Power, part of infrastructure company Strukton, provides technology and total solutions for the construction of energy systems. Clients include companies such as TenneT, Leander and Enexis. 'We are facing a major task to help shape the energy transition,' says engineering manager Willem-Jan de Wit. 'For this, the processes need to be one hundred per cent in order, as does data management. We think Cadac is the best party to support us in this.'

Platform for data and document management

Until recently, Strukton Power still consisted of three units, each with its own way of working. 'We were asked to set up a platform containing engineering, production and the complete management of data and documents,' says Cadac account manager Joost Swart. 'A system in which everything is coordinated and in which all departments and blood groups in the company communicate and work in a uniform way. The aim is to support and guide Strukton towards the new, integrated way of working and further digitisation.

Cadac Connect: system integration for data and document management

Cadac previously delivered a Product Data Management system to parent company Strukton Rail. A specially assembled Cadac team worked for a quarter on the preparation of Strukton Power's new order. It has now been agreed to install Autodesk's proven Construction Cloud in combination with a PDM system. Through Cadac Organice TaskForce and Microsoft SharePoint Online, all data and documents are managed in a single database. 'A total solution for project engineering and data management. With the in-house developed Cadac Connect, all information flows come together to form a complete system integration,' says Joost Swart.

One data source

The programme will be implemented in several phases and will run until mid-2024. Willem-Jan de Wit: 'First Cadac sets up the system, we test it with key-users and then it follows, consisting of setting up user rights, providing training and coaching employees on the shop floor. We will switch over during 2023, after which we will take suppliers and contractors with us. The point is to work faster and more efficiently. A uniform working method is a prerequisite for further growth. Good software and a single source of data are essential in this.'

Cadac Group: the digital twin enabler

Paul Smeets, CTO at Cadac Group, is proud of the long-term collaboration. 'Certainly. This fits seamlessly into our strategy of becoming the "digital twin enabler" for our customers. We help organisations digitise and like to be more of a partner in this than a software supplier. Nice that a company like Strukton has confidence in us.'
