Cadac Organice BV, a Microsoft Gold ISV Partner and developer of engineering solutions on SharePoint, has published a reference case about SharePoint-based engineering document management and control in the food process industry.
Intensive exchange of information and documents
Owner Operators in the food process industry operate and maintain plants and installations to produce food and food-based products and solutions. They collaborate with contractors and suppliers that provide specialized services and products to this industry. The collaboration involves intensive exchange of information and documents, which requires accurate document management and control.
Maintenance and expansion of plants and installations
One of the companies in the food process industry is an innovative company producing solutions based on potato starch for food, paper, building, textiles, adhesives and feed industries. For the maintenance and expansion of plants and assets, the company was using AutoManager Workflow from BlueCielo to manage AutoCAD drawings. Because AutoManager Workflow became obsolete, they were in need for a replacing solution.
Uniform working method and increased efficiency
Since the company was already using SAP for maintenance projects and SharePoint for their intranet, the requirement for the new solution was SAP or SharePoint. SAP however was too complex for regular users. Furthermore, SAP was unable to support in master check in and check out. A solution based on Microsoft SharePoint would automatically be managed by IT, which they considered a huge advantage. Since SharePoint does not support CAD drawings, they had to look for an additional solution, which they found in Cadac Organice. The traceability of as-built and maintenance documentation has increased dramatically and Cadac Organice supports in a uniform working method. The company is more efficient and is able to do more with less people.
